NUCLEAR BOMBING ON JAPAN IN WORLD WAR II

Huge mushroom cloud of nuclear bombIt was never expected by the allied powers that USA would use nuclear warfare against Japan in reply to the Pearl Harbor attack (attacked on USA by Japan without declaration). The end of World War II was only left in the pacific region. It leaded to a dreaded ending for Japan in World War II. On 6th august 1945, the nuclear bomb named as” LITTLE BOY” was dropped by American air force over Hiroshima. American air force dropped the bomb at 8:15 am (Hiroshima time). It took about 57 seconds to reach to the detonation height of 600 meter above the city. The radius of total destruction was about 1.6 km (1 mile), with resulting fires across 11.4 km² (4.4 square miles). After the first bombing, USA dropped another nuclear bomb over Nagasaki on 9th august 1945. That nuclear bomb was named “FAT MAN” (due to its fatty structure). The wide destruction caused Japan to surrender to the Allied powers. The two bombs had totally destroyed the two cities leaving no man alive. Those two bombs were the Shockwave for the Japan. In the Hiroshima bombing 90% of building was completely damaged .The energy released by the bomb was powerful enough to burn the human flesh through clothing. The casualty was in calculable. According to the official report, 70000 people died due to the immediate effect of the nuclear radiation it was estimated that about 90000 to 140000 died up to the end of 1945 due to radiation, burns and other hazards.

The first nuclear bomb was designed by USA with the collaboration of Canada under project name” The Manhattan Project”.After that two destructive bombs Japan surrendered and signed the instrument of surrender (under the Potsdam Ultimatum) to the allies, which officially ended the World War II. After the war Japan adopted the Three Non Nuclear Principle (which forbid the creation and use of nuclear armaments).

The Japaneese has built a black marker in memories of people died in nuclear bombing in Nagasaki that indicates “ground zero” of the Nagasaki atomic bomb explosion. The surviving victims of the bombings are called Hibakushu, Hibakus, a Japanese word that literally translates to “explosion-affected people”.
